Specifications:
Green turf colorants, including the green base-colorant of Solarous, are known to have the ability to reflect
ultraviolet radiation. In research performed in the lab at North Carolina State University we set out to learn
whether adding a chromatic reflectance ingredient (CRI)
enhanced the ability of the base colorant to reflect more UV radiation between 342 and 399.5 nanometres. This range falls within the spectrum of wavelengths that are known to accumulate in plants and cause stress.
Solarous TM at 3.2 L/ha. The trial was set up to reflect a 1 oz./1000 ft² sprayable rate of Solarous and a 1 oz./1000 ft² rate of just the base colorant without the CRI. A spectrometer and mathematical calculations were used to determine reflectance of the stated wavelengths. An average of 16 replications were completed for each treatment. The results of the trial showed that by incorporating the CRI in the Solarous formulation, we increased UV radiation reflectance by an average of 15%.
